Almost 90% of all the U. S. patents
ever granted have been granted since 1900. The innovations brought about by the U. S. Patent system and the
practical benefits of over 7,000,000 U. S. patents for mankind have been brilliantly illustrated by the PBS television
series, "1900 House." I very highly recommend that you watch this television series, and listen carefully to the narrator's
absolutely astounding commentary on the various hardships and dangers endured by people living at the end of the nineteenth
century.
In our century, the lives of
individuals have changed as a result of enormous technological progress. Virtually all of this technological
progress has resulted from the creation of intellectual property by businesses and individual inventors.
